Welcome to Summer 2
and our topic this term is.....
World War II (part 2)
This half term we continue our topic of World War II. Please see the Knowledge Organiser below for details of our intended learning.
Wednesday 17th May
We have been writing subordinate clauses and practising using modal verbs too. We are writing a persuasive piece where Olive is trying to persuade the people of Budmouth Point that the right thing to do is help the fallen pilot! We’ll be finishing our speeches over the next few days and then rehearsing performing our speach to the class.
Monday 15th May
The children are really enjoying our text and we’re well on the way to finding out what has happened to Sukie. Today the children took part in paired discussions where they had to put forward their views on the matter of ….should we help the injured pilot or not. The children had to debate, putting across their point of view and giving their reasons. Some pairs were brave enough to perform their debate to the rest of the class.
Wednesday 10th May.
Owl class have turned their hand to reading the weather today….not just any weather reading….a weather forecast in French of course. Putting into practise all our French work over the last 3 sessions.
Friday 5th May
Wishing all my wonderful Owls,
their families and friends a lovely
Coronation Weekend.
Friday 5th May
Using coin method multiplication. We multiply by coin values but then adjust to find answers to other multiplications. Some of us are really getting to grips with coin method. Owl class ….. show your adult at home coin method.
Friday 28th April
In pairs we have been planning our investigation. We’ve thought about the variables we will change and keep the same and we’ve predicted how changing the voltage will affect the components that we use.
Thursday 27th April
Our first ukulele lesson went well today and we practised ‘c’ chord and ‘a sharp’. We all practised together, trying to keep to the same beat. Some of us then wanted to go solo. Well done Owls…..some good ukulele plaything.
We’ve been learning about angles-identifying them and using a protractor to measure them. It can be pretty tricky using a protractor but today Owls were fabulous and all made good progress. Practise makes perfect Owls and we’ll keep practising! 😁
Thursday 20th April
Writing the next chapter for Letters from the Lighthouse. Starting with writing a really good setting description.
No biscuits at all were consumed during the writing of our scenes 😂😂
Wednesday 18th April
In English we continued to read two more chapters of our text 'Letters from the Lighthouse'. The children produced a feelings map to show their feelings towards Esther Jenkins. Esther seems to have become a bit of a mystery and a complex character. Our feelings towards her definitely keep changing.
Today we have also started to plan our own part to the story - the part where Olive finds another clue to Sukie's disappearance. We are really getting into this novel now and look forward to find out what does actually happen next.
Owls - tell your adults all about the story so far!
Monday 17th April
We hope a lovely Easter break was had by all. The children came back to school today smiling, eager to be back and ready for the term ahead!
