Bizarre Bodies
This half term, we are studying animals (including humans) and what makes a healthy diet.
We will be looking closely at teeth, the digestive system and exploring animal poo to look for signs of diet (picture form only!)
We will be making a healthy vegetable soup in D.T, using seasonal vegetables.
Our book in English will be George’s Marvellous Medicine, which we will use to write settings and a story at the end of the half term.
In Year 3, children are expected to know the 2, 5, 10, 3, 4 and 8 times table. They have been learning 2, 5 and 10 in Year 2 so this year we will be learning the 3, 4 and 8 times tables. These can be found at the back of their reading diary. Children will be tested every Friday on their tables so any support you can give your child to learn them would be fantastic. They will have times tables mixed in tests to practise for the online test we do in school at the end of each term.

Savoury Vegetable Stew- We’ve had a brilliant time over the last few weeks learning about seasonal foods, the benefits of certain foods, what makes a healthy diet, about Jamie Oliver and his campaign for healthier school meals “Feed Me Better” and reared/grown/caught and processed foods. After all this learning, we’ve planned a healthy meal of vegetable stew together and enjoyed tasting the different flavours.
Loving researching animals to categorise them- herbivore/ carnivore/ omnivore/ habitat/ type of animal and their diets.

Role On The Wall - We thought of adjectives for Grandma’s personality and appearance to describe her.
Amazing Vocabulary- We have really enjoyed using a thesaurus to find more interesting words. We thought of an adjective used quite often, then found it in the thesaurus to list more interesting words. This will help us create a richer vocabulary to use in our work.
