'We are Family' - Knowledge Organiser
We are Family
This half term our focus is on family, including wider family and the local community. This is going to be taught through our English and our R.E. unit (Prayer and the community). We will focus on how Muslims and Christians pray and the things they might pray for within their community.
In English, we will be learning about family life, through a story about a family trying to get the perfect family photo. They end up going on a family trip to get the perfect picture, but will it bring them together or end in disaster...?
In Science, we will be learning about electrical appliances, circuits and conductors and insulators. We will have the opportunity to make broken and complete circuits and test good conductors and insulators.
Our Geography focuses on map skills both within the U.K and Europe.

Week Beginning: 12th December 2022
Gymnastics: Our final session of gymnastics and we were able to enjoy the apparatus and practise what we had learnt in this unit. 🤸🏽♂️
Science: We have been making circuits using bulbs and testing which materials are conductors or insulators. ⚡️
Maths: Kingfisher have been working on multiplication this week. We have been working with arrays, number squares and lines and working out the fact families for a multiplication fact. ✖️

🕯️ Christingle Service 🍊 Reverend Lee from St Helens came to lead our Christingle Service. We lit our candles and sang ‘This Little Light of Mine” 🕯️

Writing ✍️ Kingfisher have worked very hard to produce a story based on, Picture Perfect. They have really impressed me with their ideas and stamina in their writing. 📕 ✍️
Multiplication ✖️ We have started our new unit of maths learning by using counters to sort numbers into arrays. This helped us to work out facts families for the numbers.

Maths: We have started a new maths unit and working in area. 📏 🔲
P.E: Kingfisher started working in a gymnastics routine today using their skills of jumping, standing and rolling. They had to work in a team to improvise a sequence.🤸🏽♂️
Week Beginning: 21st November 2022
Geography: Our focus on map skills has led us to rivers in the U.K this week. We have successfully found and names lots of different rivers and can talk about how rivers start.
Gymnastics: This week, we have been practising different jumps - straddle jump, tuck jump, star jump and a 180 jump.
Science: We have been looking at circuits and their corresponding symbols. 💡 🔋

Anti-Bullying Week:
We finished off the week by re-capping on what it means to be a bully, compared to being mean or being rude.
We talked through various scenarios and how we would help the people in them. 👫
English: We are working on combining speech from the text and adding the narrative. This is to practice how a story flows. ✍️
P.E: Today in gymnastics, Kingfisher were learning different types of rolling: tuck rolls, log rolls, arch and dish roll, and a teddy roll. 🤸🏽♂️

Gymnastics: We have been learning to do a tuck, a pike, a dish and an arch. Then we moved on to mirroring our partners and starting to put movements together.
