Week beg 10th October 2022 - This week we will have PE on Monday and Wednesday. Our focus this week is Selston in the past which brings this unit of work to an end. If any family have anything to share such as memories or photos of Selston in the past we would love to hear from them.

A MASSIVE Well done to this weeks Heroes!

WOW what a super busy week we have had! Our reading groups are now established and happen three times a week.

In Maths this week the children have been using the greater than and less than symbols to compare numbers.

The children have been finding out about what school was like in the past.

Map Work - Following on from our walk round Selston the children drew maps of our village.

Friday 7th October 2022 - Looking great on Non Uniform raising money for our amazing Friends of Holly Hill.

This term in Geography the children have been learning about where they live. Today the children identified Selston on a map of the United Kingdom. We also have a Puffin who has parents from Poland so we found that on the world map too.

And a MASSIVE Well done to this week's Puffin Class Heroes.

Spellings - all the year one children will bring home spellings each week, these are linked to the phonics the children are revisiting and learning. These will not be tested in isolation but will be practiced in the context of writing sentences in our phonics writing sessions.

First Week Back

Our first week back will be all about settling in and getting to know our new class. There will be lots of time for talking, listening to stories and playing with a bit of reading, writing and maths too. The most important thing to me as a teacher is that your child is happy in my class and I value the relationship with you as parents and carers too. Please do come and say hello, it will take me a while to match up children to parents at the end of the day so please feel free to come and make yourself known.

I am looking forward to another exciting year in Puffin Class.

Mrs Cottee

Welcome to our new school year

I am really looking forward to welcoming my new Puffin Class on Monday 5th September 2022. I enjoyed meeting the children in July as part of our transition mornings and I know we are going to have a great year together.
