"This is a happy and thriving school. Pupils say that care and respect are the school’s most important values. They know these values are central to everyone following, ‘The Holly Hill Way’. Pupils demonstrate these values in their sensible behaviour and considerate manner", OFSTED 2023. This is a 'good' school.HSearch
20.12.23 Today, we’re watching Holes the movie after studying it in English. For our movie snacks, we each brought our favourite chocolate bar and did a lucky dip. We had so much fun - here’s what we ended up with! 🍫

20.12.23 Disco and buffet galore!
19.12.23 A busy morning already - a rehearsal of our carol concert, now some Christmas crafting!
18.12.23 Singing in a 4-part round. This was tricky, but I’m so proud of the confidence that Swans have gained throughout this singing unit.
We even turned Crazy Gibberish from a 3-part to a 4-part round!
18.12.23 Swan had a wonderful time in Santa’s grotto today! 🎄🎄
We’ve also been joined by a special visitor! 🎄🤶
15.12.23 Our wonderful heroes this week 🤩
Some snippets of our English work we’ve been busy working away on, all about our class text Holes!
... plus some amazing Science work! 🧪 🧫
... and some fabulous History! 💥 👮♀️
... along with some Music snippets (other than our amazing singing!)
13.12.23 Swan have been practising singing considering musical phrasing - knowing when to speed up, slow down, emphasise certain words and telling a story through the song. We used Matilda’s ‘Quiet’ to practise this. We made lots of progress! 🎤
This was our end result!
8.12.23 Another 2 amazing heroes this week! 🤩
29.11.23 In Music, we’ve been learning to sing in a 3-part round. We loved singing about crazy gibberish! 🎶
27.11.23 In English, we’ve been exploring ways that authors communicate information about characters. We delved deep into Holes and looked for dialogue, description, actions and thoughts and feelings to convey information about characters.
17.11.23 In Guided Reading, we read ‘Kick’ and used the description of the character ‘The Dragon’ to draw what we imagined!
This afternoon, we started our History lessons and researched crime and punishment in the present day. We found this really interesting!
16.11.23 We are LOVING our new core book ‘Holes’. Today, we engaged our senses and spent time considering why the author described things in particular ways. We’re preparing to write a setting description next week, so stay tuned for that!
15.11.23 Today, we took part in a Picture News live assembly, which focused on British values and protected characteristics. Y6 really enjoyed this assembly and were able to contribute lots of great ideas about how what life is like at Holly Hill links to what we learnt. We also wrote some reflections after the assembly in Mrs Steed’s Picture News journal.
Miss Fretwell lead our assembly today, which was all about Anti-Bullying Week 2023. We learnt about how to ‘make a noise’ about bullying and help others when someone is unkind.
13.11.23 In Jigsaw this week, we talked about perceptions and misconceptions about things that are ‘normal’. Of course, we started with a Jigsaw warm up game! This week, the game was pass the squeeze. We worked as a team and communicated brilliantly!
09.11.23 Allie from the Dogs Trust came to visit us today for a special assembly all about dog safety.
07.11.23 In RE, we’ve been learning about Eucharist. To bring our learning to life, we enjoyed some bread together and spoke about what Holy Communion means to Christians.
