Welcome to Autumn 2!

Welcome to Autumn 2, this half term we are learning all about the Journey series- by Aaron Becker. These books have some beautiful illustrations and really give us some amazing ideas to write about in English, as well as inspiration for our D.T topic and our Science this half term.

 Week 8 update:

Monday: Our party day! 
We have danced the morning away in the disco!

Tuesday 20th: 

Today we watched the rehearsal of the KS2 Carol Concert. It was absolutely amazing! Well done KS2.

Wednesday 21st:

Last day of term! We have spent the morning doing Christmas crafts and drawing. We have had a little dance over ready for some games this afternoon.

Week 7 Update

Today we enjoyed our fantastic Cinderella pantomime.

Today we have watched the Foundation Stage Christmas concert! Their songs and actions were just fantastic! We have also looked at our prior learning in maths in our End of unit check and recapped upon imperative verbs within instructions.

Today we have practised our concert! We are getting so good at practising our lines and we all know the songs so well now!

Autumn 2 Week 5 Update

We have been reviewing all of our learnt graphemes today. Also, we have been editing our English work by adding adjectives to our sentences. In maths we are looking at fact families.

Today we have been recognising different phonemes in phonics. We have also used colourful semantics again to write about some more complex parts of the story.

Today we have been using colourful semantics to help structure our sentences in English. We have also been amazing at practising our Christmas Concert! In Maths, we are working on subtraction, How to find out what is left from a group when something has been taken away. 

Autumn 2 week 4 update

Today we have been using colourful semantics to help structure our sentences about Quest. 

24.11.22:

Today we have been spelling some words with the ‘aw’ digraph in. The children have been super at practising their spelling and using their phonic knowledge.

23.11.22:

Today we have been answering some comprehension questions about our new story Quest! The children have been working together to infer meaning from the illustrations.

Today we have been looking at our new story ‘Quest’.

Autumn 2 week 3 update

Today we have been learning about anti bullying in PSHE. The children have been fantastic at taking turns and listening to their peers.

Today we have been doing some investigating in science. We have looked at the properties of wood and looked at lots of different objects made of wood.

In English, we worked with our new learning partners to rehearse the Journey story. Wren class also showed me their fantastic dance moves during a brain break! 

Autumn 2 week 2 update

In phonics, we have been independently writing sentences using our skills to spell words with our newly learnt graphemes. Afterwards we finished our amazing wow writing. 

09.11.22:

We have been learning about different materials in science. Our maths was all about number bonds to 10.

Today we have been finding number bonds.

Today we have done some amazing spelling in Phonics!

Today we have been using the rekenreks in maths to help with our mastery of number! 
 

3.11.22: 

Today we have done some amazing listening in PSHE. We have been learning about similarities and differences, and how we are all unique. We also did some lovely handwriting.
 

2.11.22:

Today we have done some amazing spelling in phonics. We have also been writing number sentences in maths. In science we went on an object hunt around school. We have been learning about different materials.

1.11.22:

Today we have been learning about part whole models in maths. The children have been working with concrete and pictorial methods to solve problems.

This afternoon in P.E the children have been doing some traditional dance practice.
