Holly Hill Primary and Nursery School

Residential

Year 5 had a fantastic activity-filled three days on residential in the Peak District. Below you will find some photos to show many of the fun things we got up to.

Our first activity was a cycle ride along the Monsal Trail. We rode for around 9 miles and all of the children did exceptionally well!

When we arrived at St Michaels in Hathersage we met the lovely team and settled in before the children had fun trying to make their beds.

In the afternoon we went on a stream study and some of the children even managed to find crayfish!

The children were challenged to build a raft using only 6 popsticle sticks and natural materials and then we raced them down the river! The winning raft turned out to be simplest design.

Finally on our first day we went for a late evening walk up to the church to see Little John's grave.

On Thursday we went on our hike up to Stanage Edge. This was around 3 miles uphill (approximately 1000ft elevation) with a couple of stops on route and lots of interesting talks about the trees and the Peak District National Park. The weather was perfect and the views were amazing.

We had some time to chill at the top and admire the views whilst groups went down to see Robin Hood's cave.

Finally we made our way back down the 3 miles again along a different route.
