"Holly Hill is a friendly and welcoming school of which pupils, parents, carers and staff are justifiably proud", OFSTED 2018. This is a 'good' school.HSearch
12.12.22 We were able to take a break this afternoon and enjoy being a practise audience for the Foundation Stage Christmas show!
08.12.22 Today we took part in a live stream with the Google ‘Internet Legends’ project to learn about being alert, kind and safe online.
07.12.22 Today was a historic occasion as we held our first ever on-site Christingle service! Reverend Lee explained the parts of the christingle and we made our own in class, before joining back together for a lighting service 🕯
06.12.22 With our learning partners, we played ‘persuasion ping pong’ to see who could come up with the most reasons J.K.Rowling should choose our beast to publish! 🐲
05.12.22 It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas! Thank you to Friends of Holly Hill for organising this amazing snow globe! We even got to meet Father Christmas and his Elf!
02.12.22 To add detail to our letters to J.K Rowling, we spent some time researching her- then we could drop in little details and even flatter her a bit!
29.11.22 Today in Grammar, we looked at forming sentences using question tags by playing a board game. Whichever square we landed on, we had to form a sentence using that tag!
22.11.22 Today we looked at how music has changed over time. We listened to music from key musical periods (renaissance, baroque, classical etc) and placed them on a timeline.
21.11.22 Falcon Class love learning grammar through music! Today we were rocking out to the subordinate conjunctions song!
18.11.22 Children In Need day! We had the biggest cake sale in Holly Hill history and came dressed in yellow and spots to show our support 💛
16.11.22 In Art, we looked at how something as simple as spacing lines can give the impression of texture or shape,
15.11.22 We were so excited to finally get the chance to design out own fantastic beasts to send to J.K. Rowling! Here are just a few examples of the fantastic ideas!
14.11.22 For the start of Anti-bullying Week, we wore odd socks (because being odd makes life much more interesting) and had a visit from some local PCSOs to talk about knife crime.
11.11.22 To signify people coming together and kick off Anti-bullying week next week, we held a whole-school playtime, so that we could enjoy playing with each other, no matter which key stage! 🥰
11.11.22 For the first time in a long time, we were able to take part in the 2 minute silence of Remembrance with the whole school in the same place.
10.11.22 In music we had been talking about instruments from the renaissance and baroque periods. Luckily for us, Holly was able to bring in her harp and give us a jaw-dropping performance!! 🎼
07.11.22 we have finally finished the automatons from last half term’s topic!
04.11.22 it so wonderful seeing the way Falcon Class are developing their skills with independent study and supporting each other to retrieve information. The children were tasked to find information about specific beasts and then using the information they had gathered to make decisions about a potential habitat and plot it on a map!
03.11.22 The automata kits finally arrived!!!! After waiting for so long for them we absolutely loved getting stuck in and building the mechanisms that would make our designs come to life.
01.11.22 Today we began exploring our new class text and looking for clues that would tell us the audience, purpose and form of the writing. 🤓
31.10.22 The first day back after half term and I was thrilled to see Falcon Class had remembered the long multiplication method we had learnt before the holidays!
