Double, Double, Toil and Trouble
Our final half term in Year 5 is an exciting one. We have lots to look forward to including sport’s day, a few days in Hathesage and transition days. Our knowledge organiser at the top of this page details what we will be learning in our topic. I’m looking forward to this half term Owls and everything it brings 😁
Wednesday 28th June - 30th June
Year 5s enjoyed 2 nights in Hathersage in the Peak District. What a fabulous time we all had! (Adults too😁😁) We completed a bike ride of the Monsal Trail, carried out a stream activity, made and raced rafts, hiked up Hathersage, had an exciting camp fire with marshmallows and went swimming.
it was so lovely to spend time with the children out of school.
Please see photographs on the residential page.
Friday 9th June
In Science we are working on carrying out Scientific Method in order to develop important skills. As well at seeing what happens when we added colours and soap to milk, for this activity we were developing skills of prediction and observation.
Thursday 8th June
The children have been very excited to be reading Shakespeare this term and today we’ve started by reading Romeo and Juliet before then sequencing the story in order. We also studied and annotated the Prologue to the story….trying to work out Shakespeare’s old English.
Wednesday 7th June
We’ve had a great start to the term with our first P.E. lesson with Miss Bateman. The focus is cricket and we’ll be developing skills in throwing, catching and fielding as well as playing actual cricket! P.E. kits will now be needed on a Wednesday as well as Tuesday.
