"Holly Hill is a friendly and welcoming school of which pupils, parents, carers and staff are justifiably proud", OFSTED 2018. This is a 'good' school.HSearch
09.02.23 In Science, we considered the effects that smoking, drugs and alcohol can have on our heart. ❤️
08.02.23 How amazing are these designs! They are based on Islamic designs using vegetal patterns. 🤩
06.02.23 In English we wrote persuasive adverts for a water clock featured in The Golden Horsemen of Baghdad. You can even see some of them being performed below!

03.02.23 Here are some of the diagrams Falcon drew in History to demonstrate their understanding of the design of Ancient Baghdad!
02.02.23 In Guided Reading we compared Jabir’s character within the Golden Horsemen of Baghdad and then compared that book with our previous class novel of The Invention of Hugo Cabret!
31.01.23 continuing our work on the circulatory system, we created a physical representation (bean bags representing oxygen) and practised walking through the journey of blood in our bodies.
31.01.23 In science, we used marshmallows and cocktail sticks to be able to see our pulse! Following this, we measured our pulse after exercise and recorded the results on a line graph.
30.01.23 In Guided Reading this week, we have been looking at poetry. Today we looked at the poem ‘Invictus’ and discussed how to effectively perform it aloud. 🗣
27.01.23 In Scince we made BLOOD IN A BOTTLE! Yellow coloured water for plasma; dyed red cheerios for red blood cells; marshmallows for white blood cells; pom poms to represent platelets 🩸
25.01.23 The Falcons have written some very compelling speeches, arguing that Jabir should be set free.
24.01.23 Falcon worked in a very focussed and mature manner to retrieve information about the character of Yusuf in The Golden Horsemen of Baghdad.
23.01.22 In R.E. we searched for Christian symbols during a virtual tour of Southwell Minster.
11.01.23 In P.E. we started our gymnastics unit with looking at holding stretches, shapes and balances. We then had a go at incorporating equipment into the positions.
10.01.23 Today, Year 5 and 6 took part in an R.E. Workshop to give us a brief understanding about the religion and culture that was present in the Early Islamic Civilization. The Rev. Johnson was a fantastic example of how a Christian can disagree with, but still have respect for, other faiths.
😋09.01.23 Miss Hill is amazing! After Falcon heard about baklava when looking at Arabian bazaars in English, she made us some to try!
06.01.23 In Art we looked at how geometric shapes and symmetry can be used to create arabesque style patterns.
05.01.23 The first lesson in our History topic, we began by looking at where the Golden Age of Baghdad fits alongside other periods of History we have studied. We were shocked at the relative length of Ancient Egypt and it could only fit on the videos below!
