Autumn 1

Welcome back wonderful Woodies. This half term, we will be learning lots of exciting things and we will be reading traditional tales as part of our Enchanted World topic. 

KNOWLEDGE ORGANISER

18.10.23 Enjoying using all our art knowledge of colour mixing to create a final piece in the style of Kandinsky.

13.10.23 We had an amazing day today for Black Excellence day. We learnt about the inspirational lives of Princess K, Mo Farah and Floella Benjamin. We thought about what they might be feeling, made medals to celebrate their achievements and painted portraits..

11.10.23 WOW. What an amazing trip to Sherwood Forest. We met Lady Marion, learnt facts about Robin Hood and life in the forest. We walked through the forest and saw the Major Oak which was enormous. We then had a great afternoon building dens. We all had a wonderful time.

5.10.23 We loved learning about warm and cold colours in art and really enjoyed using oil pastels.

4.10.23 Woodies have been writing some information about Robin Hood this morning and have worked so unbelievably hard. We are now so excited for our trip to Sherwood Forest.

3.10.23 There is a beautiful buzz of reading in Woodpecker class this morning as the children work on their Robin Hood reading comprehensions in preparation for their trip to Sherwood Forest.

28.9.23 We have enjoyed mixing shades and tints in art using black and white.

27-9-23 - A small group of mixed KS1 children went to Horsendale Primary School to take part in a FootGolf tournament

27.9.23 We have been using thermometers in science to measure temperatures around school

25.9.23 Once upon a time - Text Immersion and Oracy session

15.9.23 We enjoyed our first P.E. lesson.

14.9.23 In Art, we have learnt that there are 3 primary colours. The artist Mondrian use primary colours in his art. We have create our own art in the style of Mondrian.

11.9.23 Woodpeckers are working super hard in our Maths lesson.

WE enjoyed the story about the worry monster. We have our own worry monster in class and we have designed our own.

We enjoyed getting active and having a brain break.

Welcome back to our wonderful new Woodpeckers.

We have all come to school ready to learn and have had a fantastic day.
