Bizarre Bodies
This half term, we are studying animals (including humans) and what makes a healthy diet. We will be looking closely at teeth, the digestive system and exploring animal poo to look for signs of diet (picture form only!)
We will be making a healthy vegetable soup in D.T, using seasonal vegetables.
Our book in English will be George’s Marvellous Medicine, which we will use to write settings and a story at the end of the half term.

D.T: Prepping our healthy stew. After a little bit of research about Jamie Oliver’s healthy eating campaign in schools, I reckon we have created a delicious meal. Dare I say we’ve done just as good job as Jamie... 😉🤫
Music: We have had a good time in Kingfisher, having our first go on the Ukuleles 🎸. Similar to a guitar, but smaller, we have tutored a partner to practise our skills.
Computing: we have made a branching database, by inputting our own questions and sorting the objects. 💻

Computing: We have made some paper branching databases, and experimented with changing the questions and outcomes. Before this, we had to think of our own questions that had a yes or no answer. 💭 🦕

Science: We have investigated the waste from animals (online!) and what clues this gives us about their diet. 💩

The House of Light: What an emotional story this has been. We followed Bonnie and Granda’s story in this post war / climate change disaster and travelled with them to safety and a new life. 🪖 🌊 🚤
Week Beginning 16th January 2023
Science: We were lucky enough to have our resident scientist, Mr Close, demonstrate the digestive system. Year 3 and 4 impressed us with their knowledge from previous sessions. 🦷 💩
Science: We have written up our demonstration of the digestive system. It was a good opportunity to recap on our knowledge of the different parts and processes. 🦷➡️💩
Grandma: After reading the ghastly description of Grandma, we created our own Grandmas using wonderful descriptions based on the Roald Dahl text.

Our first week of George’s Marvellous Medicine by Roald Dhal, and we have really enjoyed the mischief of George and his plot to ‘cure’ grandma…

Dictionaries and Thesaurus’s: Kingfisher are getting in lots of practise, in using these to check spellings and meanings of words. We have definitely got quicker! 📚
