Week 6 Update

10.10.22

 

10.10.22: Today we have reviewed our graphemes that we have learnt over this half term. We have also written a sentence in our Phonics books! We are getting so good at writing sentences now! Our English and history are linked this week; they are all about Selston in the past. 
 

11.10.22: Today we have been writing about the old post office and we’ve even had time for a little dance off before break!

 

12.10.22: Wednesday means P.E! We have had an amazing morning during our last session with Miss B! Wren class have really enjoyed working with her this half term. We have learnt lots about how exercise is good for our bodies and how we can work well as a team. We played jail tag; we had to stand in jail if we got tagged. In maths we were working on our concrete and pictorial maths skills.

Week 5 Update

03.10.22

 

03.10.22- Today we have done some writing practice in Phonics and planned a story in English. 
 

04.10.22- Today we went on a walk around Selston for our Geography and History topic. Mrs Warsop was our tour guide and she was telling us lots of historical facts about Selston as we walked around. We saw the old pit site which is now Selston Country Park and St Helen’s Church. What an interesting place to go to school in! 
 

05.10.22- On P.E day we have lots of fun! We have been playing some teamwork games, where we had to make a circle around our friends to free them. We also played a game called hotdog tag!

Week 4 Update

26.09.22

 

26.09.22- Today we have started learning about our new English text-Not Now Bernard, we used partnered talk to discuss ideas about the story and thought about how the text has similarities and differences to our previous book- The Colour Monster. In maths, we have looked at one more than a given number and make, drawing and writing the number 6. 

 

27.09.22- We have done some amazing writing in Phonics today, using our new 'ou' digraph. We have also retold the story of Not Now Bernard using poster paper and in groups the children acted through the events and verbally retold the story to the class.

 

28.09.22- Wednesday is our P.E day! The children have played turtle tag and worked on their agility. They did some animal movements- where they moved like a rabbit, spider and caterpillar to build up their core muscles. 
 

29.09.22- Today we have done some reading for pleasure. The children had the chance to choose their own story and read with their friends. This afternoon we have practised our handwriting using Letterjoin. We have also done some painting of local landmarks to relate to our Geography topic. Wren class voted to paint St Helen’s Church.

Week 3 Update

Wk: 19.09.22

 

21.09.22- Today we have had a fantastic P.E session, working on our throwing and catching skills. We also played a fun game called fire and ice, where we had to be quick to dodge the ice or be freed by our flame friends!

 

22.09.22- Today we have been doing some amazing writing in our Little Wandle Phonics session. We have been working on segmenting our words to spell them and recognising tricky words. Well done Wren Class! I am so proud of you all.

 

23.09.22- Today in maths we have been looking at counting on from a number and variations of numbers. In English, we discussed our text 'The Colour Monster' and made jars of our feelings to finish off the block of learning.

Weekly update

 

12.09.22

This week Wren Class have been continuing on with their Colour Monster book in English. We have done some fantastic writing, thinking of synonyms for the emotions within the book. We have started our science topic- thinking all about the human body.

 

14.09.22

Today we have been learning all about the 5 senses. We explored our outdoor area and then drew pictures and wrote captions all about them. We also had our school photos taken, so we all looked super smart!

 

15.09.22

Today we have done some fantastic writing in our WOW Write books. It was all about The Colour Monster. In History, we were looking at photos of Selston in the past. We discussed how places change over time and recorded our thoughts on post-it notes and a whole class mood board.

 

16.09.22

Friday afternoon is our time for JIGSAW (PSHE). We have been learning about our roles and responsibilities in the classroom and how our school is a safe place to learn.

P.E Mode Activated

07.09.2022

Wren class had a fantastic P.E lesson today. We learnt about why we have to warm up our bodies before exercise. We also played some fun games like 'Banana Split'.

 

Our First Day in Year 1/2!

Today we have: made postcards about our holidays (English), played with our friends, listened to some stories, worked on our number bonds (Maths) and lots more!
