Welcome to Summer 1 2023

This term our topic is 

THE GREAT FIRE OF LONDON

This is a topic the children really enjoy and on Monday 24th April we have a Great Fire of London immersive workshop.

This term in History the children have been learning about The Great Fire of London, here is a selection of some of the written work they have done.

Our Geography focus was The United Kingdon and London.

Friday 26th May - Well done to this weeks Heroes.

Well done to these boys who won a football tournament outside of school.We are all really proud of you!

Wednesday 24th May - In Geography the children were learning about compass directions. They used compass directions to plan journeys to see the sights in London.

Tuesday 23rd May 2023 - Today the children had the opportunity to look at historical artefacts relating to our History topic - The Great Fire of London which we had borrowed from the Museum Service.

Monday 22nd May - The children used rekenreks to make numbers with equal parts

Friday 19th May - Well done to todays Maths Stars who were able to work out the missing numbers to open the lock which was our end of lesson challenge.

And well done to this weeks Hero.

Monday 15th May - In Maths the children were directing each other using the positional and directional language.

Friday 14th May - This week in English the children have written the whole Katie in London story. Each day they wrote a piece. They have all made me very proud of their hard work and determination to improve their writing.

Thursday 13th May - Our Maths is a topic on direction and moving, the children have been learning about half and quarter turns which we practised using our bodies as well as learning right and left.

Tuesday 9th May 2023 - Well done to these two girls who won special Coronation medals at separate races over the bank holiday. Well done girls.

Over the last week we have been learning about fractions in Maths, finding halves and quarters in shapes and quantities.

Friday 5th May 2023 - Today we had a Right Royal Rave to celebrate the Coronation

We had a disco, made bunting and had fun doing creative activities with our friends.

Wk beg 24th April 2023 - This week's phonics homework and spelings

Thursday 27th April - Today in English the children wrote the next part of the Katie in London book.

In Maths we have started working on multiplication and division. Today the children have been working on making and counting equal groups.

Tuesday 25th April 2023 - The children wrote a recount of our Great Fire of London workshop.

Monday 24th April 2023 - Today Sir Thomas Percival came into school to tell the children all about The Great Fire of London.

The children had to answer questions at the end of the morning and then Sir Thomas set an actual house on fire.

AUTHOR OF THE WEEK

Thursday 20th April 2023 - Today we did Wow write and the children wrote the beginning of the Katie in London story.

In maths mastery the children were using rekenreks to make numbers.

Tuesday 18th April - The children have been set the challenge of writing numbers in words up to 20 by next week.

Monday 17th April 2023 - Starting our first day books with reading groups

Well done to our star writers who both worked really hard to write their Easter holiday recount.
