Summer 1

Welcome back to the Summer Term. It’s going to be a busy one and we’re looking forward to it. Please see our knowledge organiser for details of our learning this half term.

Year 6 had their ‘post SATs’ treat today with a day at the park. The weather was amazing, the children were amazing. A great time was had by all!

Friday 10th May. Developing times tables and mental maths with the Maths games.

Thursday 9th May

The Year 5s have been listening to a range of poets performing their poems. Michael Rosen’s ‘Chocolate cake’ was a funny favourite. They have been looking at features of poems before rehearsing and performing their own.

Wednesday 8th May

Some of our History work this half term. Timelines showing Viking invasion and settlement. Investigating Viking sources to learn more about them and the period they lived in.

Monday 15th April

This half term we are reading ‘Viking Boy’ by Tony Bradman and we’re enjoying it already. Today we predicted what the story might be about by looking at the front and back covers and reading the prologue. We drew pictures of what the Great Yggdrasil Tree might look like after reading a description about it. We plotted a graph to show the feelings of Gunner, the main character, at different parts of the story so far. Our graph made it very clear to see how Gunner’s emotions and feelings change throughout the start of the story.
