Year 3 and Year 4
Forces
Year 3 and 4 begin by exploring basic forces, identifying pushes and pulls within everyday activities and using basic objects. They continue their learning investigating forces further. They investigate friction on different surfaces including how friction affects the speed of vehicles. They look at the force of Magnetism and carry out investigation to identify which objects are magnetic.
Electricity
Firstly the children look at and sort a variety of mains electric, battery operated and non- electrical items. They discuss and create posters to show their understanding of safety in using electricity in the home. They begin their learning about components in simple circuits and can identify complete and incomplete circuits being able to identify why a circuit might sometimes be broken. They test conductors and insulators in a circuit.
