Happy New Year 

Welcome to Spring 1
Our topic this half term is ‘The Golden Age’. Please see our Knowledge Organiser for details of our learning this half term. 
 

Just to remind you this half term PE will be on a Monday and Owl will be swimming on a Wednesday and Friday. 

Thursday 13th February

We found out about the ancient city of Baghdad. We talked about what could be found there and what it might have been like.

Thursday 6th January

We wrote a persuasive advertisement for the water clock. We used a range of techniques including writing facts, using alliteration, using repetition and emotive language, rhetorical questions, statistics and the rule of three.  Some of us read our work to everyone. The writing was excellent!!!!

Wednesday 29th January

We have written a persuasive speech in the role of Jabir, the main character in our story. Jabir has been taken to the judge for breaking in and stealing food. In our writing we have to persuade the judge that Jabir is innocent using persuasive techniques, emotive language and modal verbs.  The children were keen to share their writing as they performed their arguments.

 

 

Thursday 23rd January

In groups we practised reading Jabir’s speech.

Tuesday 21st January. After learning about The Circulatory System and about the function of the Heart, Blood vessels and Blood, we made a model of some blood.

Thursday 10th January. Using a dictionary to find definitions of new words.

Wednesday 9th January

In our first Art lesson we have explored the main features of Islamic Art including use of geometric and symmetrical patterns. We have looked at examples of Art and identified the features that we could see before having a go at recreating some of our own.
