Holly Hill Primary and Nursery School

Summer 1

Summer 1 ……The Stone Age continued.

This half term we are continuing with our Stone Age theme. In Geography we investigate settlements including studying our local area. In DT we hope to develop our sewing skills and will be designing and making hunter gatherer bags. In RE our focus is Pilgrimages and in Science we are continuing our work on Living things, focussing on grouping and classifying. In English this half term our focus text is the Iron Man and we will be building up to writing our own Iron man story. In Maths fractions and decimals are the areas that we begin with and not forgetting team activities and orienteering in PE.
What a very busy half term we have!

Thursday 21st May

A fabulous day at Creswell Crags to finish our Stone Age topic. We visited one of the caves, investigated artifacts, carried out some stone age survival skills including catching a bison and we used old animal bones to create the animal skeletons. We had lunch in the sunshine and finished our day with a brief visit to the museum. What a lovely day.

Wednesday 13th May. Busy making our hunter-gatherer bags in DT. More sewing practise required 😀

Friday 17th April. Text-marking our model text.

Morning Bagels and Times Table Practise using our individual flash cards.

Tuesday 14th April. The BEST lesson ever! Text Immersion. Reading the model text and performing it in groups WITH actions!

Thursday 16th April. Drawing a story Map for the story.

Team games....... and the first bit of summer sun ☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️
