Holly Hill Primary and Nursery School

Autumn 1

Oh no ! Whisper needed our help. Whisper had a big bag of dirty washing. But there’s no washing machine in the woodland. So, Mother Nature to the rescue. Did you know, that, crushed conkers mixed with warm water makes a fabulous detergent. Well done FS. As always Whisper appreciates your hard work 🙂

The great HollyHill bake off. We made funny face biscuits. “Yes Chef”

Thank you for coming along to our reading breakfast.

We had a great time in the woods today. Searching for conkers and playing hide and seek

FS back on the bikes

Maths is fun 😀

Learning through play without actually knowing that we are learning about forces and molecules.

Good conker or bad conker? Our job in Whispers today was to find the best conkers to plant. If a conker sinks then it is a good conker. If the conker floats, then it isn’t any good.

F1 phonics, I’m forever blowing bubbles...... Blowing bubbles supports speech development by strengthening the oral muscles needed for talking and saying sounds.

F1 phonics. Blow football.... Blowing through a straw. This helps the vocal cords vibrate efficiently. A process similar to a gentle vocal workout.

Nimble fingers..... The ability to use the small muscles of the hands and fingers for precise movements.

Working in our new woodland classroom

A very rainy morning = parachute fun in the hall.

Tuesday afternoon we have PE with Mr Ellis.

On Friday we go into Whispers Woodland. This week we were searching for blackberries and elderberries. Whisper our woodland fairy asked us to make paint from the berries. So using a pestle & mortar we squashed the berries and using the juice as paint we got busy.

This week we have been painting our portraits

Busy Cygnets in the Autumn sunshine

We are so excited. Our new outdoor classroom is now taking shape. Hopefully it won’t be too long before we can get busy in the woods.

Our first day at school. We are so busy 😀
