What is safeguarding?
Safeguarding is the action that is taken to promote the welfare of children and protect them from harm.
Safeguarding means:
- protecting children from abuse and maltreatment
- preventing harm to children’s health or development
- ensuring children grow up with the provision of safe and effective care
- taking action to enable all children and young people to have the best outcomes.
Child protection is part of the safeguarding process. It focuses on protecting individual children identified as suffering or likely to suffer significant harm. This includes child protection procedures which detail how to respond to concerns about a child.
Safeguarding children and child protection applies to all children up to the age of 18.
Safeguarding at Holly Hill
Safeguarding at Holly Hill is the collective responsibility of the whole community.
We must work together to ensure that all of our children are safe and well cared for.
The Designated Safeguarding Leads in school are:
Mrs. Leanne Steed (Headteacher)
Mrs. Jayne Leal (Family Support Worker)
Mrs. Tia Watson (Assistant Headteacher)
Mrs. Lindsey Rotherham (Senco)
If you have any concerns or are worried at all about your own child or another, you could:
- speak to a member of staff
- make a referral (which can be anonymous) by contacting the Nottinghamshire Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub on 0300 500 8080.
- look at the information available here to support your decision making, https://nscp.nottinghamshire.gov.uk/report-a-concern
This flowchart demonstrates the safeguarding procedures in school and what will happen if a concern is raised. It is our duty to act if we have concerns.
