Chatsworth House Trip- Thursday 13th July 2023

This half term will be filled with lots of exciting activities, including a trip to Chatsworth House!

P.E will be on a Tuesday this half term, so make sure your kit is in school every Tuesday. We will be doing some sports day practice during these sessions.

Remember, reading groups take place three times a week- so we need to have your reading book and diary in school everyday- as the days these groups take place can vary.

Class Photo- I am aware some children did not receive a copy of their class photo. If you would like to purchase a copy the relevant details are below on the photo.

CHATSWORTH HOUSE TRIP

 13.07.23

Today we have had the most amazing trip in the sun.

We explored the huge gardens, watched the water fountains, went into many different rooms in the house and even went to see the farm animals!

Chatsworth was extremely comparable to Buckingham palace, which we have been learning about a lot this half term. We even saw a four-poster bed which a king had slept in!! What a fabulous day!

Last day before the summer

Well done to our pupils who have received amazing, improved and 100% attendance awards!

Week 7-17th July 2023

We have looked at structures in D.T, using different methods to attach materials together and how these can be strengthened.

With our additional year 2s, we have done some amazing reading comprehension, reading fantastically in pairs, using our strengths as independent, automatic readers to read a new text and answer questions about it.

We have also created our own London buildings using different materials to make a strong structure.

Week 5- 3rd July

This week we have done a science experiment all about materials and if they are suitable to use to make an umbrella for us to take to London.

In English, we have changed the Naughty Bus story into London Bus! And the bus goes to lots of different landmarks, and even manages to make it back to Buckingham Palace for tea!

Week 4- June 26th

In Maths we are working on counting in 2s, 5s, and 10s. Wren class were very good at correcting their mistakes and focusing on their number formation.

We have also practiced writing our numbers to 100, and even stretched to a few higher ones!

We have started a new class read, called The Legend of Kevin! Which is all about a flying pony, who gets into a pretty tricky situation. It is written by Philip Reeve, an English born writer who actually wrote his first story at age 5! It has been a great book to introduce us to chapter books and how they are structured. ðŸ“•

Week 3- 19th June

This week we have focussed on first person pronouns in English. Writing from the perspective of the queen’s hat, flying around London.

In maths, we are looking at missing number problems! Using our number facts and number lines to solve problems.

Week two- 12th June

This week we have been reading our new English text- The Queen's Hat! Where the Queen's hat takes a journey around London! We have just started writing our own story retelling this in our WOW Write books!

In Maths, we have been using clocks to understand o'clock and half past the hour!

In History- our significant figure is Queen Elizabeth II, we have been retelling her life and some of the events from her childhood.

Week 1- 5th June

This week we have been learning all about the different London Landmarks! We have created our own Non-fiction booklets, which contain facts about each landmark- and a beautifully drawn picture to match! In Maths we have been looking at sequencing our day and events that happen before and after...
