Wk beg 12th December 2022 - This week all of Key Stage 1 have been putting the final touches to our Christmas Performance - The Bethlehem Bake Off which proved to be a huge success. Well done everyone.

Friday 9th December 2022 - Today we had a special Christmas assembly.
This term in RE the children have been learning about celebrations and festivals. Today they learnt about the Jewish festival Hanukkah.
Tuesday 6th December - This week in Maths we have started a unit on subtraction within 10.
In the afternoon we had a visit by the Reverend Lee from St Helen's Church and to find out about Christingles and what they represent to Christians. The children loved making their own Christingle.

Monday 5th December 2022 - IT'S BEGINNING TO LOOK A LOT LIKE CHRISTMAS. Today the children had a massive surprise when they met Santa, his elf and had a wonderful time in The Snow Globe. Thank you to our amazing Friends of Holly Hill who paid for this wonderful event for us!
Friday 2nd December - Well done to this week's Heroes.
Week beginning 28th November 2022 - This week the children have been learning to add using a number line.
This week in Phonics was a Grow the Code week, the children have been recapping alternative spellings for sounds and this half term's tricky words.
Yoga learning breaks
In English this week the children used Colourful Semantics - Who, What, What doing to help them writing sentences about our book The Quest.
Week beginning 21st November 2022 - For the next two weeks our Core Book is The Quest which follows on from The Journey. The children have really loved The Journey so I know they will be excited to see what happens in this book too.
Wednesday 23rd November 2022 - DT : Making a moving picture using a slider.
Tuesday 22nd November - In Maths today the children have been using ten frames and counters to find missing numbers in addition number problems.
Monday 24th November 2022 - Todays phonics.
Friday 18th November 2022 - Children in Need. The children all looked amazing and enjoyed our cake sale.
Thursday 17th November 2022 - In RE the children have been learning about Christianity and Judaism. These sheets are for the children to use as reminders when learning about the Jewish festival Hanukkah and the Christian festival Christmas.
Today we had a Science Star - well done on your excellent Science work on materials.
Tuesday 19th November 2022 - A yoga learning break.
Monday 14th November 2022 - Today the children practiced writing Tricky Words
Our book for the next two weeks is Journey by Aaron Becker which is a wordless adventure story.

Friday 11th November - Our third Group Reading Session of the week focusing on comprehension.
We love our COOL TIME too - Choose Our Own Learning. The children learn so much from choosing what they do and with who. Well done Puffins some great construction today.
DT - Finding out about mechanisms. The children learnt that a mechanism is a tool that controls movement and then went around the classroom to find mechanisms. There was lots of discussion about what was a mechanism and what was not and what the mechanism did.
Tuesday 8th November 2022 - We are so proud of today's Star Writers whose writing was so amazing they had to take it to show Mrs Steed.
In Jigsaw this half term our topic is about celebrating similarities and differences. Today the children discussed their likes and dislikes with each other.
Friday 4th November 2022 - Our topic this half term in Science is Materials. Today the children were learning that objects are made out of different materials.
Thursday 3rd November - This week we have been learning some alterative spellings - ir and ie.
In Maths this week the children are working on using the whole part model.
Wednesday 2nd November - Today the children looked at The Journey book up to the part where the little girl draws a door. They then worked with a talk partner to imagine where she might go when she steps through it.
