SPRING 2

What a performance! Knowledge Organiser

Year 2 Spellings

Our book to kick off our topic is 'Leon and the place between'

Music - we enjoyed using the Boon whackers this afternoon, we followed notes to play high, medium and low pitched sounds. We also had a go at clapping words with different numbers of syllables, and followed some songs to practice.

Some fabulous entries into our egg and bonnet competition! Well done to Alfie who won in Wren class

What a fantastic turn out for our Easter craft afternoon. We love hosting these events and giving the children these opportunities to make memories with their parents within school. Thank you so much to all our wonderful parents!

D&T - Look at our fabulous puppets!

D&T - we used our designs and used a range of materials to bring our puppets to life.

Music - we explored using symbols to plan out our rhythms then had a go at performing them to the rest of the class

Thank you for joining us for our reading breakfast!

Music - we created repeating and rhythm patterns using untuned instruments. We worked in groups to create our own patterns then we practised bringing them to life with the instruments!

D&T - This week we designed what we wanted our puppets to look like. We have started to sew them together and cannot wait to decorate them next week!

Science - we conducted an experiment using pepper, water and soap to explore how soap helps us to stay clean and healthy. We discovered that the pepper stuck to our fingers when we dipped them, but when we added soap and dipped our finger it all moved away.

We had an amazing time watching Mike the Magician and found his tricks fantastic and he was very funny. We also enjoyed a question and answer session with him and Chuck!

World Book Day - we had a fabulous time sharing books with Falcon class!

We took part in a live reading lesson with the BBC this morning. This afternoon we will create our own circus scene based on our story ‘Leon and the place between’. We will also be designing bookmarks and designing reading diary front covers.

We looked amazing in our costumes! Thank you for helping to bring the children’s ideas to life!

World Book Day 26!

English - We’ve read our story a few times so we know it really well, then we created our own freeze frames from different parts of the story.

D&T - This half term we are going to explore puppets. We looked at a few different styles of puppets and explored how they work.

Music - we explored what the pulse and beat of music is and had a go at recreating our own using rhythm and repeating sounds
