INTENT
Holly Hill Primary and Nursery School recognises that certain groups in society can be disadvantaged because of unlawful discrimination they may face due to their race, sex, disability, gender reassignment, marriage or civil partnership, religion or belief, sexual orientation, age, or pregnancy and maternity.

HOW DOES HOLLY HILL COMPLY WITH THE PUBLIC SECTOR EQUALITY DUTY?
The school has a range of policies which make explicit the school’s long established commitment to actively promoting equality of opportunity for all. The main policies that deal with equality of opportunity are:

Holly Hill prides itself on being an inclusive school that cares for every individual child. In doing so, we promote and deliver a range of strategies to ensure that we comply to the Public Sector Equality Duty. Some of these include;

Every week in Singing Assembly, our pupils are introduced to a different artist of the week. These have been carefully chosen to ensure representation of artists across genres and backgrounds.

In story assembly, each week the pupils engage with a specially chosen book that links to a theme of diversity, equity, inclusion or belonging.

This year each class in the school will spend some time looking at the life and works of some influential black Britons as part of a Holly Hill Black Excellence Day.
