Our book for the next two weeks in English is The Magic Paintbrush which is a traditional Chinese story.

Wednesday 18th January 2022 - Today the children acted out scenes from The Magic Paintbrush story.

Tuesday 18th January 2022 - Today the children have been learning the IR spelling in words.

Monday 17th January 2022 - Today in PE the children were exploring using space and moving at different levels.

Friday 14th January 2022 - Tricky Word Friday

Thursday 13th January - In RE we have been learning about Judaism. The Star of David is an important Jewish symbol.

Wednesday 12th January 2022 - Some of our finished pieces of colour mixing art work.

In English today the children described the dragon in our story The Magic Paintbrush.

Tuesday 11 th January 2022 - Today we have had a very busy day. In Maths the children are learning about 3D shapes and their properties.

In Science we found out about puffins and wrote a fact file.

Art - continuing with colour mixing.

Monday 10th January 2022 : Phonics - putting sound buttons under the phonemes to read alternative ‘ ea’ words e.g. sea.

PE - Gymnastics

Thursday 6th January 2022 - we have had two busy afternoons working in the style on the artist Piet Mondrian who was a Dutch pioneer of abstract art.

Wednesday 5th January 2022 - Comparing numbers using the symbols greater than, less than and equal to.

English - Writing about our Christmas holidays.

HAPPY NEW YEAR, I hope that you all have a lovely Christmas. 

I have been so impressed with the children today as they all came back with smiling faces, ready to get stuck into our new school term.

Friday 17th December 2021 - Escape Room Challenge : Santa’s sleigh is broken and the children had to work together to solve the problems to mend the sleigh.

We have all made reindeer head bands.

This afternoon the children finished off our Design Technology work and made a Santa with moving arms and legs.

Friday 10th December 2021 - This week the children have been writing the Jack and the Beanstalk story.

Thursday 9th December 2021 - Today we had a DT afternoon and after finding out about what a mechanism is the children designed and made their own moving picture using a slider.

Tuesday 7th December 2021 - Today in Science the children were discussing which animals might make good pets. They also found out about what pets need and designed a poster to explain how to look after a dog.

Friday 3rd December - Tricky Word Friday

Thursday 2nd December - Sorting animals into groups according to what they eat.

Monday 29th November - We took the opportunity this morning to look at how our area had changed in the snow.

The children also wrote their names in the snow.

This afternoon the children designed their own anti-bullying posters.

Thursday 25th November - Today in science the children continued our monthly look at our outside area to observe seasonal change.

Monday 22nd November 2021 - Today in science the children were learning about how animals are grouped - mammals, amphibians, children insects, fish, birds and reptiles.

Friday 19th November 2021 - Children in Need Day. The children all looked amazing.

We joined in with the Joe Wickes work out at 9.30.

Well done to this weeks hero!

Thursday 18th November 2021 - Today the year 1s were spotting A-E split vowel digraphs in a piece of writing.

The children were writing about our book Into The Forest and practicing their number skills.

During Active 15 they organised their own game of Duck, Duck Goose

Wednesday 17th November - in maths today the children were learning about pairs.

Our book this week is Into the Forest - the children made up movements to match forest inspired music.

Tuesday 16th November 2021 - In phonics today the children have been learning the I-E split vowel digraph.

And in maths we have continued with missing number addition.

Friday 12th November 2021 - This morning the children were finding out how to find a missing part in a addition number sentence.

Thursday 11th November - Today the children have learned about Remembrance Day, why and how we celebrate it. All Puffins stood silently for 2 minutes at 11 o’clock with the rest of the school - I was extremely proud of them all. This afternoon we did some poppy activities.

Monday 8th November. Last week the children learned about The Gunpowder Plot, today their jobs were to draw a story map of the events and write about what happened.

Thursday 4th November 2021 - Today in phonics the children were reading a text using the target phonemes from this week - AI and AY.

This afternoon the children sequenced the events of The Gunpowder Plot.

Wednesday 3rd November 2021 - Today in Puffin Class the children wrote a collective bonfire night poem.

And in PE made up a firework dance.

Tuesday 2nd November 2021 - We got to meet a variety of creepy crawlers and reptiles. This is Rayo the tortoise he was very chilled out.

We met Indie the a particularly large but friendly lizard.

The millipedes were very squirmy and tickly.

Some children were brave enough to hold Autumn the corn snake - Mrs Cottee was not!

Finally we met some African snails.

Monday 1st November 2021 - It was lovely to see all the Puffins back at school today and hear all about the things they had done over half term. They quickly got back to work and in maths we revisited the whole, part, part model.

HEDGEHOG RESCUE- the children found a very tiny hedgehog on the playground and were concerned about it getting hurt. Mrs Cooper picked it up and we made a nice warm bed for it in a box. Mrs Cooper has taken him to Brinsley Animal Rescue to be looked after.

Thursday 14th October 2021 - Another busy day in Puffin Class. We looked closely at a pumpkin.

We also went into the school grounds to learn about seasonal change.

Wednesday 13th October - ROBIN HOOD - FACT OR FICTION? To conclude our work on Robin Hood the children had to decide if they thought Robin Hood was real or fiction. We had discussions as a group and with talk partners. The children then had to choose sides depending on their view.

We had our last PE session with Miss Bateman today, we played a dinosaur egg tag game.

Tuesday 12th October 2021 - Our JIGSAW session today was all about feel proud of our achievements. Mrs Cottee wrote every child a Proud Certificate which were presented to each child in front of the class.

Monday 11th October 2021 - Today Puffins used the whole part model to add two groups together.

Friday 8th October - Puffins have had such a busy week! Today was Tricky Word Friday.

The children drew maps of our Story Quest adventure at Nottingham Castle.

And painting - can you guess who?

Thursday 7th October - Puffins have had a very busy day today. After writing about the caves at Nottingham Castle the children worked on finding number bonds to 5. We also did our next Jigsaw lesson where we talked about how we need to respect each other.

We also enjoyed using the outside quad area.

The children also had a go at using a real bow and arrow.

Tuesday 5th October - OUR TRIP TO NOTTINGHAM CASTLE. I would just like to say that all the children were impeccably behaved and it was an absolute pleasure to take them out. Mrs Cottee

Wednesday 6th October - Today we talked about our trip yesterday. The children orally composed sentences about photos taken on the day in preparation for writing tomorrow.

Our Story Quest - The children explored Nottingham Castle and the area helping Robin Hood as part of his band of Merry Men.

Monday 4th October 2021 - Today in maths we have been using a number line to find one more.

Friday 1st October 2021 - Today in maths the children have been learning about ordinal numbers.

Thursday 30th September 2021 - Puffin Class are becoming super grown up. This week they have all completed teacher led and must do independent activities in the morning.

There is still time for child led activities too

In Maths the children have been learning to use the greater than and less than symbols.

Wednesday 22nd September - Ready for a new day.

Comparing amounts in maths - working out how many more or fewer.

Tuesday 21st September 2021 - Today in JIGSAW our PSHE lesson the children talked about places they feel safe and special. They recorded in their Jigsaw Journal.

Monday 20th September 2021 - Today the children wrote about Goldilocks and the 3 Bears in their Wow Write books.

Thursday 16th September - Our Perfect Puffin display

Wednesday 15th September- Today in PE the children played a game called Pizza Tag, it was great fun and helped us learn to balance.

And bouncing and catching a ball with a partner.

We also had a surprise visit by Gus the hamster, who belongs to Mrs Watson’s little girl Jett.

Tuesday 14th September - Today in maths the children have been counting backwards from 10 using different resources.

Monday 13th September - Our first Star of the Days

Thursday 9th September 2021 - We have had a busy day. We have been recapping the digraph SH and CH in phonics and making our own number lines in Maths.
